Humble
Beginnings
Bohn and Dawson was founded in a remodeled
service station in 1946 by Chet Bohn and Jim Dawson
to provide bent and fabricated tubes for some family
friends in the baby carriage business. The business
grew steadily in the wake of postwar industrial
growth in the U.S. In the 50’s and 60’s,
Bohn and Dawson became a nationally recognized
leader as a supplier of tubular components to the
growing outdoor power equipment market. Throughout
the 60’s and 70’s, growth in the residential
and commercial chair and table frame markets propelled
B & D to move into and expand our existing
headquarters facility. In 1990, Bohn and Dawson
produced it’s first automotive component
and simultaneously, our engineering, production, operations
and quality systems were re-tooled to support high
value added, engineered tubular components.
Today
Bohn and Dawson is one of the largest contract
tubing fabricators of it’s kind in North
America. We are an ISO/TS16949 certified facility.
We have 50 + tube benders in house, 100 + punch
presses, 5 robotic arc welding systems, a laser
tube processing system and a robotic plasma cutting
/ profiling system. We have 3D CAD systems and
in house tool and die design/build/maintenance.
Bohn and Dawson is geared to support high volume
tube fabrication for today’s demanding and
dynamic manufacturing environment and have the
delivery and quality awards to prove it.
