Bending
Bohn and Dawson specializes in bending complex, parts that require high speed, tight tolerance bending. We have over 50 CNC/N/C controlled benders operating on our factory floor. We specialize in high speed compression bending, pinch roll bending, draw bending, mandrel draw bending and boost assist (1:1 R) draw bending. We have 290 sets of bend dies in house, and we have the experience to provide the value added engineering reviews of bent components to insure that the end user receives a part that meets their expectation for appearance and functionality.
Arc Welding
Bohn and Dawson produces over 8 million parts per year that are welded robotically either in our facility or at our customers locations worldwide. We have the practical experience and engineering expertise to produce repeatable parts for robotic welding, and we have in house weld tool capabilities to insure good weld integrity and penetration per specification. We have 5 robotic weld cells with large envelope / window pane fixture capabilities to handle a wide range of welded assemblies and sub assembles. We have the technical knowledge and experience to provide Value Added Engineering reviews of welded assemblies to insure that our customers specify a part that meets their expectations for weld ability and functionality.
Advanced Quality Planning
Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) is where we align your expectations with our capabilities before we start manufacturing.
We do this using "real time, online" technology that allows you to be online with us, reviewing project drawings and fabrication expectations to make sure your needs are met before production starts.
Project Review / Application Review with customer to align key process capabilities.
Disciplined transfer from Engineering to Production.
Focus on inspection / proofing of part at every step of process.
Net Shape Processing
Bohn and Dawson uses punch presses from 20 - 120 tons and we also design and build custom forming and punching systems to produce high quality tight tolerance components for high volume, repeating production programs. We have complete in house tool and die design and build facilities, to build versatile, highly maintainable press forming and punching tools. We carry an inventory of critical parts for all of our tooling to maximize operational efficiency and we have multiple 100% Delivery performance awards as a result. We also uses high speed, large envelope milling systems for Flow Drilling and tapping holes in high volume tubular parts. We have over 20 different end forming systems in house for swaging and forming the ends of tubes either pre or post fabrication.
Laser Processing
To compliment our mechanical processes, Bohn and Dawson uses BLM Adige tube laser processing system for cutting / trimming and profiling round, square and rectangular tubing from .500" diameter to 4.5" square. This system allows Bohn and Dawson to process holes and end conditions along straight sections of tube, and to process tubes prior to bending with holes, end cuts or other complex cutouts. Production lead times are shortened dramatically as compared to mechanically tooled processes. The laser also provides excellent flexibility to provide tight tolerance / unique end conditions for better weld joint fit-up and reduced weld tooling cost. We also use a robotic plasma cutting / trimming cell for tight tolerance, post fabrication cutting of large tube wall components. With over 60 years of experience, we have the technical knowledge and experience to offer cost effective solutions to our customers.
